Resolution.

So here's my resolutions for 2011 :P

- Bring up my GPA

- Play Street Fighter at a decent/competitive level

- Eat healthier (Try to avoid fast food)

That's all at the moment I guess :P

Realization?

I recently had an epiphany about a certain issue.

Even though new solutions bring about new problems, being able to think with a clear and open mind is a great thing :)

Seeing that the year is ending a week or two, I think now is a good time to reflect on past events and what not :)

I think I've grown a lot throughout 2010. I remember during the first day of school I kept thinking that I'll never get a long with my classmates. Right now, I am liking my class/course mates, especially DF - 17!

I'm more confident about myself too. Even though I'm still a rather quiet guy, I think I can handle conversations with people a little better now (that's not saying much, but still :P)

I've had many interesting experiences as well. I had a part time job, I coloured my hair blue, I learnt how to dance, and the list goes on.

Hopefully 2011 will be a good year :)

Nothing much going on recently, classes have been pretty bleh; not used to my new classmates yet, even after 3 weeks, I'm not expecting myself to get used to it soon, since we're pretty much changing classes every block/semester.

But whatever la, it lets me concentrate on my work more, which is always a good thing.

New class

So I met my new class for the first time today. Needless to say, everyone split into their own cliques immediately (people they already knew). I didn't know anyone besides my previous classmates.

Kinda awkward.

Also, the new hair colour is looking okay I guess. Will wait a while until I post up a pic. In the meantime, feel free to point out my hair colour if you see me :P

New Semester.

Okay, so apparently, we have to change classes every semester, which kind of sucks :/ I have a feeling I'll be the introvert guy again this coming semester.

On the bright side, I'm in the same class with Rick, Cheryl, Fish and Dorcas, so it's not too bad I guess :D\

I'm finally taking some film/video related course this semester, and the first one is "Camera and Lighting" From what I've read, we have to deal with camera and lighting equipment. Interesting. There's also gonna be theory tests as well, which worries me a little :P

Other than that, there's nothing much to talk about, school wise :P

MEOWZA

Finally, a very much needed public holiday! Though it's only 1 day, it's awesome :D

I met up with Jaspas recently after like 2 or 3 weeks of no meet ups. Sure feels awesome to session and talk with him again :D

The class had to go to Changi Airport to take photos for an assignment. While everyone broke off into their own cliques, I decided to go solo for those 90 minutes.

Didn't regret at all :) I could take photos at my own pace.

There's a simple joy about being alone at times :)

... feel that they must be surrounded by their clique/friends/people all the time.

I am not one of those people.

Stress?

So school has started. I'm loving Digital Media Fundamentals but I'm not so confident about 3D Art Fundamentals.

3DArtFun requires me to make models out of clay, wires and similar materials. I've never felt so stressed about a module before, and part of the reason why is because at the end of the module, I have to produce a 1m tall sculpture, not to mention many other small sculptures in between.

I wouldn't be as stressed as I am right now if not for the fact that I am absolutely terrible at it. I guess I just need practice, A LOT of it.

Society.

I just got back from spending an entire day at "Universal Studios" at Sentosa. We tried almost all the rides there.

As I'm typing this, I'm lying down on my bed with aching legs, but I'm happy :)

Ben You talked about Singapore's society a little while ago. We discussed about how society expects us to get the highest form of education, get a relatively high paying job, get a wife and kids etc. We also talked about how parents would usually compare their children with other children. Ben You jokingly blamed this on the aunties and said that society would be better off without them.

He also said that if it was possible, he would just "fuck off" from his Singaporean life and start anew somewhere else. Of course, with the mindset of Singapore's society, it would be virtually impossible.

We all felt that Singapore right now is still pretty close-minded and conservative. "Nowadays, if you try something different, people will think you are weird or look down on you."

Maybe I'm thinking too much.

... when you meet an online friend who lives overseas that you've known for a few years?

Well, most of you haven't have that experience, but I'm glad that I had that opportunity :)

I just watched "Inception" today, and I have to say, I really enjoyed the experience. I left the cinema feeling a little dizzy, and for a moment, everything felt so surreal. As if things were there and not there at the same time.

I am so gonna watch it again, just to get a better grasp of the story :)

I decided to organize my card collection. By organize, I mean throwing away the cards that can't be used anymore.

AKA This entire bag of cards. Its a few kilograms at least.

It feels like I've thrown a part of myself away. You shall be missed. :(

I finally finished my story, and no, I'm never posting that shit up :P

I have a 6 week holiday that starts from next week. It feels weird to have such a long break after weeks of assignments. I really want those 6 weeks to be productive though. I wanna draw, exercise, flourish, dance, socialize and more importantly...

I got my first A in poly. :D I seriously did not expect that at all.

Suddenly, getting a good GPA for poly doesn't seem impossible. Hard, but not impossible. I just have to persevere and work hard :)

I have nothing much to type about really. These few days consist of me going out to take photos for the photography final assignment. Looks like my effort paid off :)

I've been trying to be more sociable recently, like put in effort to talk to people, and I guess that has paid off as well? I've made a friend which I can comfortably talk to and joke together with :) Haha, I've always been slow when it comes to making new friends, and that has not changed much. I've always been complaining about not making many many many friends, but I guess as of now, I am fine with it? I'm not very comfortable with BIG crowds anyway and besides, a few good friends beats many fair weathered friends.

Aiya, I don't know la. I'm still a little confused about myself. I need to get to know myself better, if you know what I mean.

A day of fun and witty comebacks.

I was out yesterday with Jaspas, Loretta and Rie :D I met J and L at Tampines before heading to Somerset to meet Rie. Along the way, I sort of translated a meme to Mandarin. "ITS OVER NINE THOUSANND" became:

Loretta even tweeted about it, how awesome is that. HAHA

So after seeing some bboying by Si Yang and co , we went to see Dharni who was busking around the area :D He was awesome as usual, and Rie was really fascinated by his beatboxing. She gave him $5, while I gave only $2. Only because I didn't have cash on me at the time :P

So we sent Rie off to her locking class and we even saw some fireworks there :D After that was dinner. I ordered Pepper Lunch while J ordered some noodles. He was like "NOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" while I was eating. Hahahaha :)

So after that, he headed of to my place to get some stuff and we took a bus down to J's place. Supposed to take some photos for my assignment, but I fell asleep -_-

I don't usually recall an entire day's worth of events, but yesterday was awesome. Thanks guys :)

Haha! I am getting used to the new environment in poly :)

Every morning during Mathias' class, the first thing everyone does is log on to facebook! Awesome right? :) If Gail's assignments are due on that day, everybody will be at the library choinging some last minute work. :P

On another note, I made a new dancer friend! :D Her name is Rie! I met her while popping for some SingTel thingum. She can pop/lock/bboy (or bgirl rather)! Talk about talent ^^

I spent the morning in school, particularly, photography class. It was okay I guess, Mathias seemed to liked the photos I took at Orchard, even though I didn't put a lot of effort into them. I just shot what I felt looked good :)

After that, I went to check the TPDE audition results, but they were not out yet, so I went over to SexyDiamond to collect my shirt from Ben. The shirt is seriously damn sexy :)

After that, I went over to accompany Jaspas and Maple for the rest of the day. They had rehearsals for some Mayday rally. Nothing much to say, only that I took some awesome photos with my iPhone and J's DSLR.

Solitude

Just finished a morning photo-shoot in Orchard that I had to do for schoolwork.

The usual clique wanted to go to McDonalds to slack, and they asked me along. But of course, being me, I declined and went to eat/chill on my own. So now I'm at Long John Slilvers. There is only one other person here, and it is quiet. :)

I don't know. There are times where I hate socializing. Maybe its because I'm not used to my new classmates yet. We know each other, sure, but I guess I'm not used to talking to most of them, going out with them, etc. As Maple would say, most of them are 'Hi-Bye' friends. Not all, most. :)

They're probably gonna ask me why didn't I join them. My reply would probably be, "Not interested".

I can hear you saying, "But Leon! Like that how to make new friends?" Other times I would agree with you, but right now, I have no idea.

...

On a happier note, I'm meeting with Sheila for coffee this Saturday! I haven't seen her for so long :) During my time in the band, she would always call my Tuba 'Tai tai tai' (Mrs Tai), then I would always say I would divorce her after I graduate. Hahahaha

I miss talking to her. :)

Today was pretty light-hearted. We watched a movie about how professional photographers from 'National Geographic' worked for Photography and we merely had consultation for our ideas for Ideation class. Gail liked my elephant blob thing! :D No need to re-do! Hahaha ^^

I have a new favorite chill/hang-out place during the 3 hour break. Its at the library! It is always almost empty most of the time. No one to disturb me. Peaceful :)

Phew, its the weekend.

So, I've just been through my first week in poly, and I can say it is tiring as hell :P Lessons themselves are pretty slack, but the assignments (at least for ideation) are not easy :(

And to think I have 3 more years to go. HAHA X)

Sunburn.

Claudia, Jaspas and I were at Pasir Ris park the entire afternoon inflating and tying balloons. The helium tank was damn heavy till I injured my wrists while carrying it :(

But! I don't regret doing what I did today, because the results were awesome and us 3 bonded a little more :D

I'm at home on a Saturday. Now that's a first :P

After reading the comments my group members left on my photo, I wonder if I have really changed personality wise.

Okay, so I know myself to be a very shy and quiet person. But the comments have proved me otherwise:

I also got a lot of comments telling my I'm a great dancer. Thats a first too :P

Fornax

I'll say it straight.

Camp was fun :)

Quite unexpectedly, I had a lot of dance related experiences during camp. The first one was when I met Joshua, who is this super dope popper/bboy. We promised each other that both of us must get into TPDE :) Then secondly, I volunteered to be a cheerleader for my group, so I had to learn a small choreography set.

Then this particular experience was probably the most striking for me. Me and a super dope hip-hop dance named Tiffany had to create a choreo set for our combined groups. She had some super awesome ideas, but was limited to the willingness and ability of the non-dancers. This made me realize how hard is must be to create a choreography set that everyone can do. She came up with most of the steps so major props to her :)

On a side note, it took me an entire day to psyche myself hard enough to ask if she had facebook. Talk about lack of confidence -_-

For us.

First day of camp today. It was okay I guess, met some familiar faces. No new friends yet, but I guess thats all in due time.

Loretta was kind enough to SMS me about camp :) If you are reading this, thank you! :D

Sometimes, its these small actions that make people very happy :)

R16

Holy shit... where do I start :D

I reached there at 11.30 am, talked to Jannson for a bit, was looking around for the 'IMPERIOR ASIA' booth to buy my awesome stuff, but despite walking around in heaps of mud, I could not find it. So I walked and waited till about 3 for the beatbox prelims to start. After the beatbox prelims, 'IMPERIOR ASIA' finally set up their booth, so I bought my 'RESPECT' cap and tee :D

After that, I went home for a while because the beatbox finals starts at 8pm x_x I went back at around 7.30 and managed to catch the finals for the popping/locking/bboying/beatboxing, in which everyone from the respective categories was awesome.

Also, Jacky and Tyron make super awesome and hilarious hosts! They kept referencing to Bolo Santosi and Tyron even said "Par Chiu Cheng" out of nowhere. Needless to say, everyone went "LOLOLOLOL"

I went back at around 10pm, and am now lying down with an aching body :P

FUYO

So a little while ago, I went for the FUYO Warm -Up party, which is basically a little event which leads up to the big FUYO event tomorrow (or today, since its 1.18am at the time of this writing :P), which I'm not going to because there's R16 tomorrow... or today. blah

Jannson said that my popping has improved! :D He said that I didn't rush anymore and that my hits were very clean. I have Robin to thank for those things :)

Well, nothing much to say right now. I'm sure tomorrow will be a blast :)

Stuff lately.

I have no idea really.

Sometimes I love being alone. Its really quiet and peaceful and whatnot, and it gives you time to think; not about anything in particular, just thinking in general.

Then sometimes I hate being alone. Sometimes I just need someone to chit-chat with, even though those who know me know that I'm a quiet person in general. I love just being able to talk to anyone about anything.

On an unrelated note, I just remembered about this story I was brainstorming together with Jaspas. The whole concept of the story is about cons. The main character is a father who is a master conman, who raises his son righteously; the complete opposite of the main character. The son eventually apprehends his father, but then we find out that the father intentionally gets caught to lay low while his secret underground network which he controls from prison does all the work. I don't really remember the rest, but I know it was awesome. :)

I have no idea, really.

Ok so its 11.30 am. I woke up at 8 am as usual, did some weights, ate breakfast, flourished, practice some beatbox routines for R16.

Morning without school is awesome :)

Mom told me to either join the band or some dance thing when I'm in poly. Obviously I wanna try going for dance because 8 years in the band gets a little boring. Practice songs for special occasions only.

So its dance! I hope its not only hip-hop though :D

Finally

I finally did something productive today! I managed to reorganize my entire playing card stash.

Think its easy, not when you have:

this amount of cards to organize, plus there's like 40 more on the desk nearby.

Thats like 3 years worth of playing cards? Holy shit does time fly by!

Also, 2 people from Temasek design school came unexpectedly to pass me some envelopes. Part of me appreciates the effort while another part of me thinks that they should have just left it in the mailbox. I was wearing a shirt and some shorts, then mom was saying I should have changed into something more presentable, but meh :/

I'm still pretty nervous about going to poly. Hopefully I'll be able to fit in.

Oh well.

JC vs Poly

Meh.

I've been reading on the whole "Jc vs Poly" debate thingamajig. And it seems that the internet has many JC-ians :P

All of them are saying that JC is better because of the whole "better chance of getting on to a local University", "Poly is so expensive, also no confirm place in Uni", "Jc people are smarter" and so on blah blah yada yada.

So that got me a little stressed initially, then I told myself that I already made a decision and there is nothing else I can do but work hard.

During my last year in HIMB (Holy Innocent's Military band), we had an exchange program thingamajig where we would go to another school and practice with them. We went to SJC (St Joseph's Convent) to practice. Then, I saw her.

I remember seeing her for the first time during our trip to Malaysia in 2007. I remember her because she reminds me of one of my cosplayer friends. I swear this sounds really corny but it was literally love at first sight. D: I remember hoping that I would see her again soon. Then as time flew by I gradually forgot.

I saw her again in said exchange program, and it was love at first sight all over again. When it was time to leave, I was like :( then she gave me this:

All I know is that her name is Amanda. If I wasn't so bloody shy back then I probably would have talked to her. :<

I just received my 'Tuition Grant' form from the polytechnic a few hours ago. After seeing the initial cost and how much the government (gah'ment :P) is gonna subsidize, I am relieved that our dear gah'ment is willing to pay a portion of the money...

But that also made me realize how important my tertiary education is. No more fooling around like in secondary school!

I gotta set my priorities right when school begins :)

So I just got back from a Locking event called 'Lockdown' (d'uh) and I can still feel the whole battle atmosphere and whatnot.

That was how crazy fun it was!

So my face might be like :|, but I'm feeling like >:D

So, since Jin and Kah Sing are in a locking group called 'LOL' (Lock out Loud), Maple and I made up our own group called 'LMAO' (Lock my ass off). :D

I'm pretty there's gonna be a 'ROFLMAO' (Rolling on the floor locking my ass off) but we'll get to that when we get to that :P

I went for my very first popping session at NYP :D Initially I was very shy about dancing in front of other people but after a while I was dancing happily, as Kenneth would probably know :D

Today was awesome! :D

Met Kenneth and Jaspas in the afternoon, had lunch and discussed what was to be achieved through group choreographed flouishes. It was a pretty productive discussion :)

We headed to Bugis and we were later joined by Loretta! :D After Kenneth had to leave, we went to eat our dinner, and Loretta and I watched as Jaspas JIMP'ed while eating his Pepper Lunch. :)

After that, it was off to the arcade :D I pwn at SNK fighters but I'm pretty weak at Capcom fighters :P

Today felt like a dream. I swear to god I didn't want today to end that quickly. I guess all good things come to an end and here I am back in reality.

Going to see Code Edge wasn't my original plan but I definitely did not regret going there at all! In fact, I probably would have regretted not going :P

All the dancers in Code Edge were so bloody awesome! Poppers Action Party, dT, Spice Boyz, Dong Woo and so many others that put up an awesome show :D I also bought myself a Code Edge T-Shirt. lol

I keep telling myself to forget but it seems that it is pretty much impossible.

Secondary School.

A lot of people have been blogging about how much they miss their 4 years in HIHS.

...

As for me, I'm not too sure leh :P I mean, I'll definitely miss it but not too much.

Let's see...

Secondary 1 was pretty much a blur. Made a few friends here and there.

Secondary 2 was okay. I started flourishing this year :D You could see me in class at around 6.45 am practicing my cuts everyday :P I pretty much only excelled in Art and English. The rest were pretty sub-par.

Secondary 3 was fun. I met Clarence this year, since he was the only guy willing to sit next to me at the start of the year. I would have probably died without him. :P I slacked a lot this year too. OBS was awesome too :)

Secondary 4 was the most fun :D I remember when it was announced that Mr Anba (DM) was going to be our English and Co-form teacher. Everyone was like:

"OMG everyday sure got hair and attire check. Win liao lor"

But in the end, he turned out to be a super-nice guy! :D Not to mention slack too :P

And then there was Miss Tan. Holy shit, she is one of the most strict form teachers ever. She can be really nice if she wants but when you get on her wrong side you are pretty much dead. :P But still I like her as a form teacher ^^

O level Art was a bitch though x_x

That's it I guess. The only real close friends I made through these 4 years were Clarence and Louis. I really regret not making more friends but hey, its all over now. I'll definitely make sure to make more friends in Poly, even if I don't, I'm sure I can manage on my own :)

On another note, I want more shoes! X)

I have just finished watching '5 Centimeters Per Second', and I can confidently say that it is one of the best movies I have ever watched. The story is heart-wrenching and the art is simply AMAZING. Each frame of the movie is wallpaper-worthy and that is no exaggeration.

I registered for a beatbox competition that is happening this Saturday!

Well today was awesome I guess :D I went to school to collect my money before heading over to Plaza Singapura to meet Jaspas. Then Jaspas, Maple and Sheldon decided to play L4D2 while I went on to meet Kenneth for dinner and sessioning. Shared some new ideas with him and played around with 'Static'. I think we really impressed the McDonald's worker there :D He had the ":O" face :P

On another note, Molecule 4 is the most overdone flourish ever, beating 'Under Pressure' in popularity. ... -_-

Also, its fun to show flourishes to beginners at the Magic Hall ^^

So it seems that Jaspas and Loretta are together now. Loretta reminds me of myself a little. Both of us are somewhat shy. Haha.

I know I probably should be happy for them I guess, but seeing them hold hands today made me feel a little depressed. Maybe "little" is an understatement. Its like the world is mocking me, after realizing that she (not Loretta) has already someone else in mind, suddenly I see couples everywhere holding hands and whatnot. Sure this sounds like a scenario from a television drama but god dammit its actually happening to me.

I might seem a little desperate right now, but I feel so empty at the time of this writing. Maybe I'm just thinking too much.

Well today was kind of awesome. I met Jaspas in the afternoon and we slacked and played Mousehunt at The Soup Spoon in Bugis. I want my SB+ dammit :( Then we met Maple and chit chatted till about 11+ then back to home ^^

There's a flourish meet-up tomorrow and its gonna be awesome :D
